Has anyone ever read the Quoran? I was watching a program last night about Islamic women reclaiming their rights. It highlighted a few facts about Islam that I hadn't realised before. 1stly there is no priesthood in Islam. Mullahs are simply scholars and supposedly enlightened. I always thought they were priests. 2ndly Islam is not oppressive to women. The people that wrote Sharia law are oppresive to women but apparently it doesn't come directly from the Quoran.
I should probably get a copy and place it next to my copy of the Bible and the Srimad Bhagavatam. I'd love to spend some time studying it as a comparative religion.

Then you've read the wrong pages.
Unsurprisingly, I have read it. And it's far from the Hell and damnation of the Old Testament, and just as far from the unconditional forgiveness of the New. In point of fact, it illustrates a good deal of common sense, and all of it is written in a very Sermonic style. Any reference to dung beetles is purely symbolic, I assure you.
Incidentally, there is very little mention of the destruction of Christian/Western ideals either - another strike for the "Islamic Terrorists" to bat past. When will people realise that religion never caused a single war throughout history.
Only the incessant need of tyrants for everyone to agree with them can claim that prize.
