I been wondering about a Satanic Marriage.
In the eyes of the law, is it a legal ceremony?
do you obtain a valid marriage certificate?
does it have to be performed by a recognised priest?

Satanic Marriages in the UK aren't recognised legally even by someone who is ordained as a Priest by a Satanic organisation. In the UK I think it is something to do with State and a Satanic Priest isn't recognised yet in this way.
In some states in the US it is accepted as being legal but even here the ceremonial aspects and personal meaning of the ceremony is important and thats what it represents here.

Back on the subject:
Yep Andy is right. In this country the marriage has to be performed by a licensed individual in a licensed building. Although the building laws have been relaxed recently, so I can't remember the exact limitations.
In the US depending on the state just about anyone can get a license to perform marriages. You simply have to prove that you are a spiritual influence in your community. The ceremony can take place anywhere. All you need is a marriage license, 2 witnesses and a person to perform the ceremony.
For example I was married by a close friend of ours in my ex wifes house in a suburb of Buffalo. The ceremony was a pagan event and it stands as a legal marriage.

Well if I could make you both come with a simple post imagine............. Oh ok lets not go there. ;D
I'm pleasently surprised that we actually have unitarian churches in the UK. (I've been living under rock clearly) Now all you need to do is convince one of these fine institutions that they want to perform a nice satanic marriage.

*imagines anyway* One post between both of us...mm..hmmm.....
Still trying to work out the details of my own marriage thing... We definitely want to go for the cave idea...But it looks like the cave isn't a recognised marriage venue anyway, so so far I am looking at the concept of having a ceremnony in the cave which will be meanignful but won't be techncially be "official",and ducking out b4 or after simply to sign papers in the registry office.
Would that cover it? Or does anyone have any better ideas?
Of course doing it that way would mean the person conducting the ceremony did not have to be "officially" recognised either*winks@bearer of double ended post*...(lol tho I'm also working on how to make the ceremony meaningful, but still subtle enough not to give any relatives heart attacks.)

How about having the cave ceremony for you and close friends etc, then have a quick registry office ceremony for the family?
This way you don’t get the problems of having family at a satanic ceremony, and registry office weddings normally pass very quickly.
